outputs of processes. * Configuration system. It brings a new dimension to

Many Eiffel libraries are included: ADT, network, GUI, database, parsing
(including an Eiffel parser), XML, Web, COM, and more.

Changes:
Memory usage has been reduced by about 10% during compilation, and disk
usage has been reduced by the same amount. The C code generation in final
mode has been changed so that it does not use .x files, making it easier
to debug the C generated code on some platforms. There are various
bugfixes and UI improvements.

more than one class having a syntax error during parsing of the whole
system. Completion list improvements and bugfixes. Major speedup of degree
3, especially when `full_class_checking' is enabled in the project
configuration file.

A new debugger facility was added to display the complete size of an object
and its children. The ability to detect catcall at runtime was added. The
speed of addition and removal of errors was improved when you have a lot
of them (> 200). The finalized code generation was improved to have more
static binding in general and even more when inlining is enabled.

programming language. It includes a compiler, an interactive debugger, and
many modern features like a full round-trip class diagram editor or
refactoring support. Eiffel is compiled through C to produce very fast
executables. EiffelStudio is highly portable and supports Linux, Microsoft
Windows, MacOS X, most flavors of Unix, and even VMS or embedded
environments. Portability of applications is supported by a large set of
portable libraries, including: data structure, network, native GUI,
database access, parsing, XML, Web, COM, and many more.

Changes:
This release adds some new debugger features, such as evaluation of
procedures and a quick visualization of features that are melted or have a
rescue clause in the call stack. This is also the first release that is
able to compile FreeELKS directly. EiffelBase is still the default
standard library, but will be phased out by FreeELKS in the final 6.0
release. Many bugfixes are included.

Changes:
EiffelStudio was made more mainstream by providing a contextual menu in
addition to the powerful Pick and Drop mechanism. Support was added for
object creation as part of watch expressions in the debugger. Theme
support on Linux was improved. Various bugs in the debugger and in the
docking were fixed.

Changes:
More than one error is reported at degree 3: all classes are compiled at
degree 3 and all errors are displayed at the end. There is a new replay
execution mechanism in the debugger: record an execution to replay it.
This is useful when debugging a complex system where you just encountered
a bug. At this point, you can play back the execution to find where the
problem really occurred without restarting your debug session. There are
various bugfixes.

Compiler code generation was improved by reducing the size of the generated
executable by about 2%. Various bugs in the inliner were fixed. Support was
added for Windows SDK 6.1 on the Windows platform. One issue where harmful
catcall detection runtime would not be detected was fixed. A new
environment variable ISE_USER_FILES was added to override EiffelStudio
settings without having to fool with the EiffelStudio delivery.

ecb was added, which is a batch only version of the ec compiler. Because it
only uses what's needed, it can be up to 40% faster than ec to compile
projects. Code generation of the compiler was improved, which could result
in 10% or more speed improvement of generated applications.

This release improves the performance of {FILE}.read_stream so that one
call is performed to the underlying 'fread' routine rather than a series
of calls to 'getc'. It improves the catcall detection by offering more
choices to the user on what will happen when a catcall is detected, i.e.
stop in the debugger, display a message in the console, or none of the
previous. There are bugfixes in {SOCKET}.read_stream and
{WEL_REGISTRY}.enumerate_key.

fixed with the thread library where on Linux, one could not create more
than 2^15 threads. Various bugs in docking have been fixed. Memory
corruption that would occur when an invariant was violated has been fixed.

changed so that they can be used in concurrent threads. This means that it

Many Eiffel libraries are included: ADT, network, GUI, database, parsing
(including an Eiffel parser), XML, Web, COM, and more.

Changes:
This release fixes a few issues with the code generation for inlining large
routines. There are other minor bugfixes at the UI level.

This release implements an inherited/original feature comment specification
so there is no need to replicate comments when redefining routines. It
applies this change to all formatter tools. Compiler issues when handling
expanded generic classes used in generic classes are fixed. There is a
breaking change in the signature of {SPECIAL}.same_items and
{SPECIAL}.all_default to take an extra argument. It should only have been
used by ARRAY, and should be harmless. If you have a compilation error,
simply add '0' as the first argument of your call and let the authors know
if this is critical.

Shortcuts can now be customized. Dependency view was added so the

EiffelStudio is an IDE for the Eiffel language (ECMA-367, ISO/IEC 25436,
and ACM Software System Award 2006). It includes: Eiffel compiler, Eiffel
editor, Eiffel code browsing tool, graphical design tool, refactoring
tool, debugger, profiler, and Eiffel analysis tools (Metrics,
Dependencies, etc.). Eiffel generates C or CLI for .NET or Mono. Eiffel
applies O-O principles and Design by Contract for high-quality software.
Many Eiffel libraries are included: ADT, network, GUI, database, parsing
(including an Eiffel parser), XML, Web, COM, and more.

Changes:
A new layout for EiffelStudio tools to highlight most commonly used tools.
A new Errors and Warnings tool wither a better way to show errors and
filter them. All the dialogs have been revisited to provide a nicer and
consistent look and feel. Multiple errors are reported for each
compilation degree. The ability to submit a problem report within
EiffelStudio when it quits unexpectedly has been added. Support has been
added for the MinGW C compiler on Windows 32-bit platforms. Borland is
officially not supported anymore. Attached types. Non-conforming
inheritance. Compiler speed up at degree 3.

A contract editor was added to ease editing of contracts. The Eiffel
Information System was added for connecting external documentation to your
Eiffel code and vice versa. The light batch compiler "ecb" was added, which
is about 20% to 40% faster than the GUI one. An experimental unit testing
tool was added. Exceptions were implemented as objects. A new ~ operator
is supported to safely compare objects. Harmful catcalls are detected at
runtime. The "note" keyword is supported.
