About:
Opera for Linux is an alternative, lightweight, X11-based Web browser for
Linux.

Changes:
This release aligns the Linux, Solaris, FreeBSD and Windows releases and
supports many new features, including bidirectional text (BiDi), the
data (RFC 2397) URL scheme, synchronized image animations, and a
reintroduced kiosk mode, and accepts drag and drop from remote
applications. Many bugs were also fixed.

Several security issues were resolved, such as cross domain scripting
issues with plugins and rich text editing, a code execution vulnerability
through TLS certificates, and bitmap memory access. A problem where
malformed BMP files could cause Opera to temporarily freeze was fixed.

Support for small Web applications (Widgets) was implemented. Site-specific
preferences, including a content blocking feature and a management
interface, were introduced. The popup blocker was enhanced. Bittorrent
support was added. An error console, an editor for search shortcuts, and
an internal source viewer/editor were added. Web page thumbnails were
enabled. Support for Acid 2 and several CSS 3 properties was improved.
Plugins using the Netscape plugin API 0.16 are now supported, and the need
for Motif was removed. New IMAP mailer code was implemented. A system tray
icon was added for Unix.

An issue where simulated text inputs could trick users into uploading
arbitrary files, as reported by Mozilla, was fixed. Image properties can
no longer be used to execute scripts. A cross site scripting issue with
the representation of DOM attribute values was fixed. A stability issue
when connecting securely to Windows Server 2008 or other servers
supporting the TLS Certificate Status extension was fixed, and additional
stability fixes were made. On Mac OS X, RealPlayer content now works
again, and a bug that prevented Opera from launching on Leopard systems
with FileVault enabled was fixed.

Additional fixes for the frame injection issue reported in Secunia
Advisory SA13253 were made. An extra warning dialog when opening .sh,

with kfmclient exec was added, addressing the issue reported in Secunia
Advisory SA13447. Improvements were made to the handling of the
'must-revalidate' cache directive. A stability issue in the Japanese
version was solved. A crash when importing e-mail was fixed.

Changes:
Fraud protection (a phishing filter) was introduced. Handling of site
logins on slow connections was improved. Flash 9 plugin operation,
cancellation of torrent downloads, and deletion of feed subscriptions were
fixed, along with several other stability issues. User agent identification
strings were updated. Wand data was changed to a new format.

Changes:
A cross-site scripting vulnerability due to a character encoding
inheritance issue with frames was fixed. SpeedDial was introduced, placing
previews of up to nine pages into a new tab for quick selection. The
keyboard shortcuts Ctrl+[1..9] were changed to access these nine
predefined sites quickly. Support for animated GIF images in skins was
added. Developer Tools were introduced, including DOM, JavaScript, and
HTTP header inspectors, as well as CSS editor. Flickr Organizr, fullscreen
movies on YouTube, and images with broken EXIF data now all work correctly.
Many other fixes were made.

An issue when removing specially prepared torrent transfers was fixed. A
data leak issue when using canvas.createPattern was fixed. An issue where
data URIs could be used to display the wrong address in the address bar
was prevented. The display of long domain names in auth dialogs was
improved. The Trustcenter class 3 G2 root certificate was added. A problem
with certificate import was fixed. Toolbars can now use bold fonts again.
Tabs can be dragged between windows using the Windows panel again. Several
stability and performance fixes were made. Shared memory is now disabled by
default.
