rsyslog 3.14.1 v3 Stable
by Rainer Gerhards (http://freshmeat.net/~rgerhards/)
Fri, Apr 4th 2008 09:30
About:
Rsyslog is an enhanced multi-threaded syslogd. Among other features, it
offers support for on-demand disk buffering, reliable syslog over TCP,
writing to databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, and many more), fully
configurable output formats (including high-precision timestamps), the
ability to filter on any part of the syslog message, on-the-wire message
compression, and the ability to convert text files to syslog. It is a
drop-in replacement for stock syslogd and able to work with the same
configuration file syntax.
Changes:
This version offers almost all features of the current development version
to those in need of a stable branch. Among others, this includes support
for multiple database backends, queued and offline syslog processing,
SNMP, and text file support. It is a big step forward compared to the v2
stable branch. Users are advised to check the compatibility notes before
updating.
