About:
MinorFS is a userspace filesystem for Linux providing private storage to
pseudo persistent processes. This allows programs that are run by a user
to keep some data safe from all potential malware that runs with all this
users' privileges.

About:
MinorFS is a userspace filesystem for Linux providing private storage to
pseudo persistent processes. This allows programs that are run by a user
to keep some data safe from all potential malware that runs with all this
users' privileges.

Changes:
This version adds the possibility of delegation. Each file or directory now
has an extended attribute that makes it possible for the owner (that is,
the pseudo-persistent process) to do basic delegation of files and
directories. Delegation makes use of a concept known as password
capabilities. Next to the functional improvements, this version comes with
an install script that should make installation less problematic.

About:
MinorFS combines a small set of cooperating userspace filesystems for Linux
that provide private storage to pseudo persistent processes. This allows
programs that are run by a user to keep some data safe from all potential
malware that runs with all this users' privileges. It further implements
simple password capabilities as a way to explicitly share access with
other processes or users.

Changes:
The main change is the support for using interpreted code with Minorfs.
The previous version always saw scripts or Java programs as instances of
the interpreter, instead of allowing scripts and Java programs to be
persistent processes of their own right. Interpreters require the
creation of a config file that defines how to identify unique scripts or
programs. Some efficiency patches have been made, private temp dirs have
been added, and ViewFs/ CapFs coupling has been made less strong by using
symlinks from ViewFs to CapFs, and letting ViewFs be defined by just two
symlinks.

The 0.3.2 version was tested only on SUSE 10.3. This release includes fixes
for problems running MinorFs on a few other distributions. It has been
confirmed to run on SUSE 10.3, SUSE 11.0, and Debian etch.

The command line parameter in the etc/minorfs/*.xml files was interpreted
with its value inverted. This is now fixed, and an example config file has
been added for the e-language in order to promote the usage of MinorFs with
the persistence features of this ocap programming language.
